Provincial Property Tax Programs - Request for Additional Information

Additional information on the Prince Edward Island Property Tax Programs listed below is available from Taxation and Property Records.  Simply check the appropriate boxes on the Request for Information on Provincial Property Tax Programs form and submit the form to Taxation and Property Records.


  • Owner-Occupied Residential Tax Credit
    This tax credit was discontinued after taxable value assessment increases were tied to increases in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for PEI. However, residential tax credits that accumulated between 2003 and 2007 under this program will remain in place provided the current ownership of the property does not change.

  • Provincial Tax Credit
    Registered property owners who reside in the province for 183 consecutive days or more in each taxation year (January to December) may be eligible for this property tax credit.

  • Real Property Tax Deferral Programs for Seniors
    Registered Property owners, who are age sixty-five years and over and meet the program criteria, may be eligible to defer property taxes on their principal residence.

  • Farm Assessment
    Registered property owners who earn at least 25% of their gross annual income, or $10,000 from farming may be eligible for this property tax credit

  • Farm Use Assessment
    Registered property owners who rent or lease clear land to a bona fide farmer may be eligible for this property tax credit.

  • Environmental Land Credit
    Registered property owners, who have one hectare (2.5 acres) or more, of land with a slope greater than 9% and who qualify for farm assessment or farm use assessment, may be eligible for an Environmental Land Credit

  • Buffer Zone
    Registered property owners, with one hectare (2.5 acres) or more, of land within a buffer zone and who qualify for farm assessment or farm use assessment, may be eligible for an Environmental Land Credit

  • Environmentally Beneficial Farm Building Credit
    Registered property owners who are bona fide farmers in compliance, or actively in the process of complying with environmental legislation and guidelines, may be eligible to receive a tax credit
